January is National Mentorship Month, and it is a great time to highlight the great mentors in our UChicago Community.
 
The alumni association offers the WISR platform as a way to connect with alumni for career advice, informational interviews, or to find a business partner.
 
Both our speakers are UChicago graduates, and this webinar is a chance to gain insight in to the power of our UChicago alumni community, and encourage you to learn about other’s career journey and find a mentor or be a mentor to others today.

About the Presenters:
alan-l_editAlan Langsner, MBA'99 has been a public-equities investor for nearly 20 years.  He began his career at MFS Investment Management following industrial, technology, and healthcare companies and ultimately became a portfolio manager on several value funds.  He moved to Sirios Capital Management nearly 12 years ago and is now Co-CIO.  In his current role, Alan invests in consumer, industrial, and healthcare companies.
 
 
 
 
 
adam-de-sola-poolAdam de Sola Pool, AB'81 is an investor, mentor, entrepreneur and new technologies competition judge with 20 years of experience in clean energy & water and hardware companies. He has helped to start over 20 companies in emerging markets. Prior to being an entrepreneur, he was an employee at the Industrial Bank of Japan, Salomon Brothers, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and National Investment Fund 13 (in Poland). Adam has been presented the Cleantech Investment Forum Pioneer Prize for his work in establishing the first significant wind and solar development companies in central Europe.
 
As an Angel Investor, Adam is a Partner in the Clean Energy Venture Group, a member of Launchpad Ventures, and MIT Angels.
 
Adam mentors & judges at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Techstars, Northeastern University, CleanTech Open, & MassChallenge.
 
Adam is on the Advisory Board of the International Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga Portugal, the MIT Enterprise Forum Polska accelerator in Warsaw Poland and the University of Wollongong (Australia) iAccelerate program.
 
Adam has a Masters Degree from the MIT Sloan School (1988), a BA from the University of Chicago (1981), and graduated from Phillips Academy at Andover (1976).  Adam is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

kapilKapil Chaudhary, AB'01 is the founder and CEO of RecommendMe, a platform for consumers to get upgraded at their favorite restaurants and share favorites with friends. He is also the cofounder and Managing Partner of I2A Ventures, a venture capital firm with $30M+ under management. Kapil represents I2A on the boards of DialogTech, Sittercity, YCharts, and Signal. He co-founded Excelerate (now TechStars Chicago) – an accelerator for innovative start-up companies globally.   

Prior to I2A, Kapil worked as a venture development director with the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC - 1871’s parent organization), a consultant with a west coast venture incubator and in investment banking at Credit Suisse. Kapil is the founder and chairman of Launch U, a college and career prep mentoring program for high performing underserved high school students. Kapil graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA in Economics and an MBA from Kellogg.
